{"id":1367,"date":"2024-04-10T09:33:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-10T09:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.youthclic.hk\/?post_type=topic&#038;p=1367"},"modified":"2024-04-10T09:35:12","modified_gmt":"2024-04-10T09:35:12","slug":"consequences-on-refusing-to-cooperate-with-the-police","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/www.youthclic.hk\/en\/topic\/our-legal-system\/arresting-procedure-my-rights-and-obligations\/consequences-on-refusing-to-cooperate-with-the-police\/","title":{"rendered":"Consequences on refusing to cooperate with the police"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If the police officers are acting in accordance to law, one must in general cooperate with the police, as it is an offence for a person to assault, resist or deliberately obstruct the police in the execution of their lawful duties (see for example,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hklii.hk\/eng\/hk\/legis\/ord\/232\/s63.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section 63<\/a>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hklii.hk\/eng\/hk\/legis\/ord\/232\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Police Force Ordinance<\/a>&nbsp;(<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hklii.hk\/eng\/hk\/legis\/ord\/232\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chapter 232<\/a>) and&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hklii.hk\/eng\/hk\/legis\/ord\/212\/s36.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section 36<\/a>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hklii.hk\/eng\/hk\/legis\/ord\/212\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Offences Against The Person Ordinance<\/a>&nbsp;(<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hklii.hk\/eng\/hk\/legis\/ord\/212\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chapter 212<\/a>)).
